Santiago - Easter Island City Tours

City tour Santiago
The tour starts at the San Francisco Church , which was built between 1572 and 1618. Then we will continue to the Palacio de la Moneda , current seat of government. Then we will visit the Plaza de Armas, where we will see important national monuments, such as the Iglesia Catedral (The Cathedral Church), Correo Central (The Main Post Office) and the Municipalidad de Santiago (The City Hall). We will continue our trip going to the Cerro Santa Lucía (the Santa Lucia Hill), where the city was founded in 1541. We will then cross the Mapocho river and then pass through different residential districts giving us an overview of the city.

Rano Raraku Tour
Rano Raraku volcano situated northwest of Hanga Roa, is one of the major and most valuable archaeological sites on the island. Here one can find the open quarry where the moais were carved. We will also pay a visit to Ahu Tongariki and Te Pito Kura, two archaeological monuments with their own characteristics.
In the afternoon we will visit Nau, and we will enjoy a picnic lunch on Anakena Beach , a place for relaxation and swimming characterized for its warm very crystalline water, the luminosity of the surrounding atmosphere and the sea bottom with its coral reef sands.

Orongo Tour
In the morning a half day tour visiting Orongo, an ancient ceremonial village near to the crater of the Rano Kau volcano. This is the place where the most important ceremony of the second period of the island used to take place.
We will also visit Vinapu, an archaeological area with two Ahus (ceremonial platforms) in ruins, one of which is of particular significance since the stonework of its walls bears a great resemblance to those to be found in Machu Picchu .
Ana Kai Tangata, located on the cliffs south of Hanga Roa, in the area called Mataveri, is a spacious cavern, which has paintings of birds (manu) on the roof tiles.
