Tiwanacu Ruins
Tiwanaku, was the capital of a highly advanced nation dates back to 1580 BC.
This Aymara civilization developed through five interesting periods covering at the peak of its splendor time (around 700 AC) an area of 232,558 sq. miles (600,000 km2) while being the largest city in the world with more than 100,000 inhabitants. Visit the ruins of Akapana pyramid, the Kalasasaya and the Underground Temple of Kontiki, aqueducts and the famous Gate of the Sun, which is carved with symmetrical figures. Tiwanaku is considered to be the “Cradle of the American Civilizations” and in 2000, UNESCO declared it “Cultural Heritage of Mankind”.

Leave La Paz in private transport to Copacabana by the Titicaca Lake , passing through many communities of Aymaras in the Puna High Lands. The way is paved and runs parallel to the Royal Mountain Range of the Andes , where we will have the possibility of observing and of enjoying many beautiful mountain peaks. During the way we will observe the lake in the South eastern part of the Huarina villa, crossing the Eastern part of the lake until we come to the Straits of Tiquina that connect to the two parts of the Titicaca Lake .
We will cross in boat and we will continue the on a paved road with a great view of the Lake and the Royal Mountain Range of the Andes until arriving at the city of Copacabana . In Copacabana is to be found the famous "Dark Virgin of Copacabana" in its church of Colonial Renaissance style, that includes other influences like baroque Indian and Moorish style.

Famous Colonial City , and source of silver during colonial times. The rich mountain towers over the city, and according to legend, it has produced enough silver to build a solid silver bridge from Potosi to Madrid . The Cathedral, the church of San Francisco and The Casa de la Moneda (Royal Mint), with its wooden machinery used to make the silver coins for Spain during the colony and a visit to a mine are the main local attractions.
