San Miguel de Tucumán is the capital city and heart of Tucumán Province . Popularly known as "El Jardín de la República " (The garden of the Republic) because in springtime there are flowers everywhere - in the parks, balconies, streets and gardens, the city is situated in the northeast of Argentina at 447 m above sea level. Regarding topography, there are almost all existing landscapes ranging from high mountains to plains and including woods, forests, scrubs, fertile plains and even desert areas. Due to this fact, there are eleven micro-climates around the city. The average temperature in Summer rates 26º C and in Winter rates 15º C. You can arrive to this place with city life and beautiful landscapes by plane getting to “Teniente Benjamín Matienzo" International Airport which is a few kilometers away from the city. San Miguel de Tucumán is chosen by tourists because of the historical and archaeological interest and also because of the variety of landscapes and climates. Being the land of the sugar cane and setting of the Independence Day, San Miguel de Tucumán City provides places to visit such as Obispo Colombres House, the historical House of the Independence Declaration, the outstanding Cathedral, Casa Padilla Museum , El Cadillal dam and beautiful sites only a few kilometers away from the city where residential areas are settled. There are also archaeological circuits, jesuitic tracks and a great variety of posibilities to enjoy Adventure Tourism in fourtrax vans, climbing or hiking activities in Calchaquí valleys. Quilmes

I t is 9 miles ( 15 km ) away from Amaicha del Valle and 113 miles ( 182 km ) from San Miguel de Tucumán ; it is 6,598 ft . ( 1,978 m ) above sea level. The old city of Quilmes , which sheltered a large Indian population (it is considered the largest pre-Hispanic human settlement of Argentina ), rose there. Today, its ruins, which were restored and completed with a museum where traces of that culture can be seen, are found there.

Molinos

The town of Molinos is located in the heart of the CalchaquĂ­es Valleys , near 200 kilometers of the Salta city.

Salta

Located in a fertile valley "Valle de Lerma" at 1187 meters ( 4,200 ft ) above sea levels, Salta is a wonderful place to enjoy historical, architectural and environmental beauties. It was founded in 1582 by the Spanish and is still filled with well-preserved age-old architecture from the 18th and 19th centuries. The region offers unforgettable trips like the day trip "Train to the Clouds" of 350 kilometers ( 215 miles ) passing through amazing sceneries with deep valleys and mountain chains.  Another interesting trip goes to "Villa San Lorenzo" located 10 km ( 6.25 miles ) from Salta which offers beautiful views of the gorges and prairies of the "Lerma Valley" and the Andes.

Day-by-day Itinerary

DAY 1 - Buenos Aires
Departure Flight to San Miguel de Tucuman. Arrival. Reception and transfer to the Hotel.

Overnight at Grand Hotel de Tucuman.

DAY 2 -Tucuman / Quilmes
Breakfast.

City tour including the most important historic monuments of the city. Villa Nougues and Cerro San Javier. Travelling from Tucuman along the mountain road through a jungle, the Sosa Gorges opens into Tafi del Valle, in the heart of the Aconquija Range at an altitude of 2000 mts. From Tafi, a dusty gravel road winds up to the watershed at El Infiernillo at 3000 mts. above sea level and from there it drops down to Amaicha del Valle (Local tradition says that the sun shines 360 days a year). Afterwards, the impressive fortified city of Quilmes , located on a natural formation carefully choosen by its builders (the Quilmes Tribe).

Transfer to Quilmes.

Overnight at El Parador de Quilmes.

DAY 3 - Quilmes / Molinos
Breakfast. Early departure to Cafayate and its wine cellars, that produce the Torrontes, a typical argentinian white fruity wine, including the visit of one of them, with winetesting. Continue to Molinos, a small town with one of the prettiest chapels in the Valley, along the Quebrada de las Flechas with a marvellous landscape.

Transfer to Molinos.

Overnight at EL Hostal de Molinos.

DAY 4 - Molinos / Salta
Breakfast. Departure to Salta crossing the Recta del Tin-Tin, passing by Cachi (little town al 2200 mts.) and Piedra del Molino (3600 mts.) crossing through Los Cardones National Park .

Continue by the Cuesta del Obispo. Arrive to Salta.

Transfer to Salta.

Overnight at Hotel Salta.

DAY 5 - Salta
Breakfast. Full day tour to the Humahuaca Gorge, visiting all little towns in the Valley such as Purmamarca - with the beautiful Seven Colors Mountain, Tilcara - with the incredible Pucará (Indians Fort) - Uquia church and Humahuaca - with the streets of irresistible charm - On the way back, visit of San Salvador de Jujuy and return to Salta by the "Camino de Cornisa" with subtropical vegetation.

Return to the hotel.

Overnight at Hotel Salta.

DAY 6 - Salta
Breakfast.

Day at leisure.

Overnight at Hotel Salta.

DAY 7 - Salta
Breakfast

Morning at leisure and afternoon city tour of Salta and surroundings. Return to hotel. Transfer to the airport for flight departure to Buenos Aires.
